What are the responsibilities and job description for the Authorization Specialist position at Lara Medical and Associates?
This position requires excellent customer service, the Authorization specialist is responsible for servicing the needs of patients by receiving phone calls from both members and providers to facilitate the authorization and coordination of referrals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receives phone calls and faxed authorization requests from providers.
- Inputs all referral requests including ICD-10 and CPT codes into system accurately for electronically generated authorization tracking. Provides referral authorization to external providers.
- Issues authorization within appropriate time frame for routine, urgent and emergent requests.
- Adheres to company HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Ensures integrity of data entry is accurate.
- Excellent time management skills including the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment
- Attention to detail
Experience:
- Authorization specialist or Referral Coordinator: 2 years (Preferred)
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Language:
- English/Spanish (Preferred)
