Under close supervision, performs semi-skilled work in the operation of a variety of vehicles, equipment and heavy equipment in the Public Works Department.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.) • Operates assigned trucks and heavy equipment to assist in the repair and maintenance of roads, properties and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.• Grades and shapes roads; repairs and maintains roadway and infrastructure as directed.• Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment as directed.• Performs special labor assignments as directed, including fire control, accident and hazardous materials cleanup, culvert and sign maintenance, and snow and debris removal.• Collects and hauls construction materials and debris; transports vehicles and equipment to job sites; may operate rock crushing equipment.• Operates power equipment, welding torches and special tools as needed.• Performs traffic control activities as directed; reports safety hazards and traffic problems.• Observes safety rules and regulations, and assists work crews as required.• Observes all roadway courtesies; acts in the interest of public safety and property protection as needed during emergencies.• Completes required daily logs and reports.• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
