The Patient Account Coordinator (PAC) will be responsible for managing the billing and financial aspects of patient accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage the billing process for patient accounts, including verifying insurance coverage, billing charges, and processing payments.
- Review and update resident demographic and insurance information in the facilities electronic health record system.
- Coordinate with residents, families, and insurance companies to resolve billing inquiries, disputers, and discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims, following proper coding and documentation guidelines.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims or delinquent accounts.
- Assist residents and families in understanding their insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and financial responsibilities.
- Provide support and guidance to residents seeking financial assistance or payment arrangements.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and adhere to HIPAA regulations and facility policies related to privacy and security.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, billing specialists, and other team members to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for services provided.
- Participate in training and continuing education to stay informed about changes in billing regulations and reimbursement processes.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing codes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems

- Occasional standing and walking within the facility may be required.

- Stamina and physical endurance to handle a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines for billing submission and account management.
- Ability to lift and carry boxes of medical records and supplies, as needed, up to 5lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to access files, storage cabinets, and other work-related materials.
- Ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels and occasional interruptions.
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager.
