What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at Las Clinicas Del Norte?
The Pharmacy Technician assists the medical staff in providing safe, rational, effective, and complete pharmaceutical care for the LCDN clinic sites. Provides pharmacy support to ensure that quality pharmacy services are provided.
1. PARTICIPATES IN THE ASSURING EXCELLENCE IN THE PHARMACY COMPONENT OF LCDN CLINICAL SERVICES by
a. VISITING all three clinic sites on a regular basis.
b. PLACING ORDERS for medications, weekly or as needed, with oversight by consultant pharmacist.
c. MONITORING STOCK LEVELS at each clinic site, and transfers medications from one site to another if necessary.
d. ORDERING PHARMACY DEPARTMENT SUPPLIES such as dispensing labels, prepacks, bags, etc.
e. ORDERING VACCINES AND FAMILY PLANNING medications and supplies from the State Department of Health with input from medical staff re : inventory levels and projected needs.
f. REPACKAGING medications under the supervision of the consultant pharmacist
g. UPDATING the formulary database.
h. CHECKING all stock monthly for outdated medication. Send outdated and unwanted medications to reverse distributor on a regular basis, preferably monthly.
i. MAINTAINING all pharmacy-related paperwork in a readily retrievable manner.
j. PROCESSING Sharing the Care program paperwork.
k. ASSISTING with annual drug inventory.
2. ENSURES COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATORY AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS by
a. MONITORING the clinic's procedures for control and accountability of all drugs and biologicals, and by assisting in the renewal of all necessary clinic registrations and licenses related to pharmacy.
b. KEEPING the drug room neat, clean and stocked with supplies necessary for dispensing.
c. MAINTAINING security of drug room
d. COMPLYING WITH LCDN PROCEDURES for Pharmacy Services and all other laws regulations and legal and ethical standards pertaining to pharmacy services.
3. ENSURES ACCURATE AND EFFICIENT COMMUNICATIONS by
communicating with providers regarding non-formulary requests and other needs and act as liaison between the provider staff and the consultant pharmacist if needed.
4. MAINTAINS PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE by
completing training as required by the Board of Pharmacy and provided by the consultant pharmacist.
5. CONTRIBUTES TO THE TEAM EFFORT by
accomplishing related results as needed
