Overview
The award-winning Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is currently hiring for Human Resources Coordinator III for the Benefits function of the Human Resources Department.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under administrative supervision, The HR Coordinator III provides general administrative support to one or more Human Resources functions, including Benefits, Compensation and Classification, Training and Development, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Reporting and Employment. This position performs a variety of transactional duties in accordance with established policies, procedures and practices. The HR Coordinator III interfaces with a wide variety of internal and external customers to answer general HR policy questions and information requests and collaborates with supervisors to determine recruiting needs and methods.
This HR Coordinator III position will report to and work under direction of the Benefits Manager to provide specialized support for the administration, coordination, and maintenance of the employee benefit programs, including group health, life, short- & long-term disability benefits, deferred compensation/savings plans, flexible spending plans, workers’ compensation program, and Americans with Disabilities Act and Family Medical Leave Act accommodations/leaves. HR Coordinator III positions also assist with the other functional areas in HR as listed above.
Description of hours and wages:
The pay range for this position is $30.54 to $40.93 per hour. Pay typically begins at the minimum of the pay range, and employees are eligible for annual merit and COLA increases per District policy.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), FLSA non-exempt position.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates, facilitates, and assists with the administration of Benefits programs:
a. Assists with benefits orientations and enrollment.b. Ensures the accuracy of benefits enrollment data in HRIS to provide vendorswith accurate eligibility and billing information.c. Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.d. Ensures compliance for workers compensation claims.
2. Coordinates, facilitates, and assists with the administration of Leave programs:
a. Assists in the Employee Leave administration process particularly thosequalifying Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).b. Gathers, completes, and enters required paper work/information to ensureappropriate notice requirements and compliance.c. Maintains communication with employees on leave to ensure compliance andtimely return to work.
3.Assists with day-to-day administrative support of various Human Resources programs including but not limited to: Front Desk Reception; Employment; Recruiting; Training & Development; Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) & Reporting; Employee/Labor Relations; Workers Compensation & Unemployment; and Compensation & Classification.
4. Creates and maintains accurate and up-to-date Human Resources files, records, and documentation.
5. Answers frequently asked questions from internal and external customers relative to established policies, procedures and practices.
6. Enters updates and/or retrieves information from various automated Human Resources and/or Payroll systems.
7. Assists with planning and execution of HR & District special events.
8. May assist with District-wide Personnel Action Forms/Requests and Position Change Actions.
9. May assist with the timely and accurate implementation of HR/Payroll database (UKG) changes to ensure accurate payrolls and audits.
10. May create standard or ad-hoc reports out of UKG and other HR data systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and District reporting guidelines.
11. May assist with the support of all aspects of Human Resources as it relates to data requests, including but not limited to data availability, feasibility of requests, ad-hoc reports, technical support and training.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Five (5) years Human Resources administrative support experience.
Preferred: Five (5) years Human Resources administrative support experience with at least two (2) of those years as a Benefits Specialist or related position working with employee benefits and leave administration.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
Required: Completion of a university-sponsored Human Resources Management Certificate Programs/aPHR Certification Preparation, or Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR) certification (HRCI).
*A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field may fulfill this requirement; Bachelor's degrees in non-related fields may not.
Preferred: SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is primarily performed in and office setting. Ability to lift up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as files or books. Although work is performed in an office setting, a limited amount of walking or standing is often necessary to carry out job duties.
