POSITION EXPECTATION
The Groundskeeper applies best practices and industry standards for planting, maintenance and upkeep of all landscaped areas including xeriscape, desert and raised beds. This position will leave a positive first impression through well-pruned, shaped and healthy landscaping to enhance the LVCC and customer experience.

Direct contact with guest should be expected and professionalism in both conversation and deeds is always expected as is assisting other departments by identifying and reporting facility damage, deficiencies or issues impacting the customer experience.

The individual in this position must be able to work in both an office environment and an outdoor environment. When working outdoors, may encounter varying terrain in all types of climates. Must be able to communicate in person, over the phone and by radio. Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting, stooping or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for proper planting, pruning, fertilizing of all plant varieties and species of all outdoor grounds of the LVCC.
- Inspect plants, irrigation systems, hardscape and surrounding landscape features to ensure proper operation for plant health and functionality.
- Maintain all work and storage areas in a neat, orderly and clean manner.
- Responsible for proper labeling and storage of hazardous materials.
- Measure, mix and apply limited use pesticides to required landscape areas.
- Conduct and document parts, materials and supplies inventory.
- Ensure all resources required to complete assignments are taken to the job site, and all equipment used, assigned or issued is properly used and cared for.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or GED
- Landscaping experience required; desert environment preferred
- Experience with various outdoor landscaping equipment and fertilizers
- Ability to:
- Wear safety Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
- Understand and apply standard units of weights and measurements
- Pass an initial respirator medical evaluation and fit test and pass a fit test annually
