Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgery Scheduler to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth scheduling of surgical procedures while providing exceptional service to patients and healthcare professionals. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a fast-paced medical environment.
Responsibilities
- Schedule new, add-on or reschedule surgeries with hospitals, anesthesia, Clinician(s) and patients.
- Obtaining insurance and authorization, for surgery, maintain surgery updates
- Obtain medical records, radiology reports, labs, all perinate medical records
- Obtain medical clearances with sub-specialist, compile releases
- Order testing for Surgery, follow-up with patients and compile results.
- Complete & process surgery orders
- Confirm schedule surgeries with hospitals, anesthesia, Clinician and patients
- Compiling and coordinating the distribution of documents with hospital and insurance
- Patient education on surgery prep instruction and post op care.
- Compiling and communicating pre-op and post-op instructions.
- Schedule post Op Appointment
- Update and maintain EHR patient records
- Filing and preparing correspondence for patients or member of the healthcare team
- Answering multi-line phone system and resolving patient concerns
- Maintain patient post-op rotation schedule
- Complete assigned Clinician tasks
- Maintain patient files, records and other information.
- Attend required meetings and participate committees, medical protocols as requested
- Performs other assigned duties as directed.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office
Experience
- Scheduling experience Years: 2 years’ experience in office-based setting preferred
- Customer Service 2 year (preferred)
- Computer skills: MS Word, Excel,
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology as well as ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Bilingual a plus
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, particularly in surgery scheduling or related roles.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing practices is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for successful interaction with patients and healthcare providers.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
