Public Health Nurse
We are seeking a full-time Public Health Nurse to join our team. As a Public Health Nurse, you will provide comprehensive health services to members of the community in order to improve their overall health outcomes.
Responsibilities for this position include conducting health assessments, providing vaccinations and health screenings, and offering health education to individuals and groups. The nurse will also be involved in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, nutrition education, and public health emergency response.
Applicants must hold a current nursing license in the state of Illinois. Previous experience in public health nursing is preferred, but not required. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Experience working with diverse population is beneficial.
The LaSalle County Health Department plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of the residents of LaSalle County by providing essential public health services and working to protect and improve the overall health of the community. The LaSalle County Health Department provides a variety of programs and services to residents, such as immunizations, maternal and child health services, communicable disease surveillance and control, health promotion through Blood Pressure Monitoring and IL Breast and Cervical Cancer programs. We also offer community outreach and education programs to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent chronic diseases. In addition, the department is actively involved in emergency preparedness and response efforts, working closely with other local, state, and federal agencies to safeguard the community during public health emergencies and natural disasters.
Starting Wage: LPN $19.81, RN $25.81. Employee benefit package includes 40 hours work week (Monday through Friday 8-4:30), 12 paid holidays, IMRF retirement. paid sick leave, paid vacation leave after one year, health insurance with optional dental and vison coverage, and continuing education opportunities.
