IT Field Service Specialist Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of network infrastructure, including IT servers and network devices
- Focus on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage structured cabling systems, including Cat5, Cat6, and fiber optic cables
- Assist with the configuration and deployment of network infrastructure equipment for LAN/WAN and other systems
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating activities across multiple teams to ensure successful project execution
- Understand and diagnose customer issues, identify root causes, and provide timely solutions to ensure the successful resolution of network and cabling-related concerns
- Perform routine maintenance tasks for IT facilities and networks across all company locations, including fieldwork across North America
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, inventories, and related activities
- Participate in an on-call rotation for network monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalations
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- 2 years of IT support experience with a proven track record of customer satisfaction
- Proficiency with data communications, wired and wireless networking, and networking principles such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, LAN/WAN networking, and network security
- Experience with structured cabling (Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic) installation and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with cable testing tools (e.g., cable testers, fiber testers)
- Ability to travel 60%-75% of the time, including travel to remote locations
- Availability for after-hours, weekends, and on-call duties as needed
- BICSI, CCNA, NETWORK , or similar certifications
- Experience with structured cabling installation, including aerial, buried, and underground wiring systems
- Familiarity with networked security systems, burglar alarms, security cameras/recorders, and access control systems (e.g., Kantech Entrapass)
- Experience with Cradlepoint, HPE Aruba, and Cisco Meraki network equipment
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic cable installation and troubleshooting
- Ability to work in various physical environments, including rooftops, remote sites, and construction trailers
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 60 lbs regularly, up to 100 lbs occasionally).
- Comfortable with climbing ladders and working in elevated positions.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel by car and air for business.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
