The Senior Manager of Non-Profit Finance will be responsible for overseeing the financial management, budgeting, reporting, and strategic financial planning of our organization. This critical role requires a deep understanding of non-profit financial regulations, fund accounting, and the unique financial challenges of mission-driven organizations.
Senior Manager of Non-Profit Finance Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with the organization's mission and long-term objectives
- Manage annual budgeting process, including preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting standards
- Maintain accurate financial records and implement robust internal control systems
- Manage fund accounting for multiple funding sources, including government grants, foundation funding, and donor-restricted funds
- Prepare detailed financial reports for grantors and board members
- Ensure strict compliance with grant requirements and restrictions
- Track and report on program-specific financial performance
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial models and long-term strategic plans
- Conduct financial feasibility studies for new programs and initiatives
- Provide financial analysis to support organizational decision-making
- Develop and track key financial performance indicators
- Prepare annual tax filings (Form 990) and ensure regulatory compliance
- Manage annual independent financial audit process
- Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, accountants, and financial advisors
- Stay current with non-profit financial regulations and accounting standards
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities
- Establish performance metrics and conduct regular performance evaluations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- 7 years of progressive financial management experience in non-profit sector
- Demonstrated experience with fund accounting and grant management
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
- Master's degree in Business Administration or Nonprofit Management
- Experience with fundraising and donor management systems
- Knowledge of sector-specific financial management tools
- Bilingual capabilities
