This candidate will assist in the design and development as well as lead the implementation of a new, targeted program for incoming Lasell students seeking higher levels of academic and/or social support, the Ignite Program.

Description
Lasell University seeks an outstanding candidate for a full-time, 12-month (in-person) position in Lasell’s office of Accessibility Services. This candidate will assist in the design and development as well as lead the implementation of a new, targeted program for incoming Lasell students seeking higher levels of academic and/or social support, the Ignite Program.
Primary Responsibilities: student-facing
- Lead weekly (~60 minutes) academic/executive function coaching sessions, individually or in small groups, with flexibility of scheduling sessions
- Plan and facilitate the implementation of weekly small-group social coaching sessions using the PEERS Social Skills Coaching program
- Plan and facilitate periodic social programming primarily intended for students enrolled in this program
- Plan and implement programming for a third day of first-year student Orientation (to be held the day before orientation sessions begin in full)
- Coordinate student access to Lasell resources (academic tutoring, counseling, health services, residential life, e.g.)
- Monitor and report on student progress throughout and after the end of each semester
- Consult academic advisors prior to students’ first semester and throughout successive semesters to guide course registration
- Interpret student/family-submitted accommodation/service documentation
- Collaborate with the Director of Accessibility Services and Academic Support to coordinate housing accommodation requests and logistics
- Assist with student and instructor rollout and continued use of Symplicity Accommodate software
- Collaborate with and guide student accessibility affinity group leaders with regular meetings and periodic events
- Consult, communicate and meet with students seeking task-specific and ongoing support under the auspices of Accessibility Services
- Assist the Director of Accessibility Services and Academic Support with internal and external outreach and visibility initiatives
- This position will include other responsibilities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred: (education, higher education administration, accessibility and disability studies, rehabilitation counseling, etc.)
- A minimum of 3 years working with, guiding and advising students with disabilities in an educational setting, at the post-secondary and/or secondary level
- Knowledge of best practices in post-secondary academic support and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development to stay current with research and trends in academic support services and higher education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
