Job Description / Summary
Supervises production line employees in a manufacturing environment plan and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Essential Functions
- Read and analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports, in order to determine production and manpower requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Inspect products and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
- Monitor work, to ensure that employees conform to production or processing standards.
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
- Maintain operations data such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, housekeeping or efficiency.
- Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
- Recommend personnel actions such as discipline and promotions.
- Set up and adjust machines and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
