Chief Academic Officer
The Chief Academic Officer provides strategic leadership and direction for all college academic services.
About the Position:
This is an administrative position responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that promote student learning, retention, and success.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight to academic departments, programs, and services.
- Develop and implement academic policies and procedures.
- Maintain institutional compliance with accreditation standards.
- Oversee preparation of budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Prepare and submit required reports.
- Participate in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of faculty and staff.
- Hear faculty and student grievances.
- Serve on college committees; represent the district at assigned local, regional, and state meetings.
Requirements:
- Masters degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to instructional and/or student support services.
Desirable Qualifications:
- At least five years experience in higher education, including two or more years experience in a higher education administrative capacity.
- Experience with California community colleges (California Education Code and Title 5 Regulations).
- Experience with participatory governance structures.
- Experience with accreditation expectations (ACCJC Eligibility Requirements and Standards).
- Additional education (doctorate degree).
