Summary
Under the general direction of the Superintendent/President, the Vice-President of Academic Services is the Chief Instructional of the college and manages all functions associated with its instructional services. The Vice-President of Academic Services is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight of all college student support services and instructional offerings, promoting student learning, and supervising faculty, staff and educational administrators.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a Masters Degree
- Requires a minimum of one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to instructional and/or student support services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and participate in a full range of responsibilities relating to instructional and student support services that include but are not limited to:
o Institutional Effectiveness (Plan, Implement, Evaluate and Modify)
o Program and Curriculum Development, Review and Termination
o Learning Support Services (Library, Learning Center, and Training Center)
o Assessment of Student Learning
o Distance Education
o Student Support Services (Matriculation)
o Special Programs (Categorical)
o Institutional Research
- Maintain institutional compliance with accreditation standards.
- Oversee preparation of budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Prepare and submit required reports
- Participate in the hiring, supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff
- Hear faculty and student grievances.
- Serve on college committees; represent the District at assigned local, regional, and State meetings
- Provide leadership to all areas of instruction and student services.
- Fulfill administrative responsibilities in compliance with the District’s mission, goals, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Foster cooperation by encouraging and maintaining open communications and by supporting the implementation of shared governance.
- Exercise judgments, which are dispassionate, fair, consistent, and equitable.
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in education and to principles of ethical behavior.

- Desirable Qualifications:
- At least five years experience in higher education; including two or more years experience in a higher education administrative capacity.
- Experience with California community colleges (California Education Code and Title 5 Regulations)
- Experience with participatory governance structures
- Experience with accreditation expectations (ACCJC Eligibility Requirements and Standards)
- Experience with the management of instructional services
- Experience with the management of student support services
- Experience with gran writing and management
- Additional education (doctorate degree)
