Join Our Team: Associate Vice President of Finance
We are seeking an experienced Associate Vice President of Finance to join our Finance leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this senior role, you will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, manage the annual auditing process, and prepare monthly financial reports. You will also provide strategic financial analysis and comprehensive insights to support Senior Leadership and the Finance Committee of the Board. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience, a deep understanding of financial operations and regulations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders to drive key financial decisions.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of HUD, DDS, OSD, and UFR reporting regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
- Experience in managing software implementation projects is a plus.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Master’s degree and / or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with a focus on nonprofit or agency finance.

Key Responsibilities:
Finance and Business Office Operations:
Oversee and provide leadership to day-to-day Finance department operations, including Business Office, Payroll Processing, and Financial Reporting. Guide staff in optimizing operating efficiencies supported by IT systems while maintaining appropriate internal controls.
Financial Management:
Assist in the development and implementation of financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis and planning processes.
Analytics and Reporting:
Conduct and oversee in-depth financial analyses to support decision-making. Develop processes to support consolidated financial reporting for parent and subsidiary organizations. Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the CFO, CEO, Senior Leadership, and Board of Directors.
Audit Coordination:
Manage the annual audit processes, collaborating with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient review. Ensure financial processes, controls, and reporting comply with all GAAP, state, and federal statutory and best practices requirements.
Payroll Management:
Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement strategic financial plans that support the agency’s mission. Ensure that financial resources are allocated effectively to enhance program delivery and organizational growth.
Financial Systems Implementation:
Manage the facilitation of Financial Accounting, Planning, and Payroll software implementation projects by coordinating with consultants and external experts to ensure that financial systems are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness.
Statutory Expertise:
Provide guidance and expertise on statutory regulations and compliance, including HUD, DDS, OSD, DESE, UFR reporting, etc. Ensure that all financial practices meet federal and state requirements.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Act as back-up to the Controller, Director of Finance, and / or CFO when needed.
