Latino Academy of Workforce Development is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Youth Development Coordinator (part-time, temporary position). This part-time role provides a meaningful opportunity to work with school-aged youth (ages 10–18) in supporting their growth during after-school and non-school day programming.
Position Details:
- Title: Youth Development Coordinator (Temporary Position)
- Reports to: Director
- Pay range: $18.00–$20.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Hours: Flexible hours; must be available evenings and occasional weekends.
- Location: Latino Academy of Workforce Development and partner locations in Dane County.
- Employment Term: This is a part-time, temporary position requiring 20–30 hours per week. Please note that this position does not include benefits. The position will begin on January 6, 2025, and conclude on May 30, 2025.
Position Summary:
As a Youth Development Coordinator, you will plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate youth programs in collaboration with staff and community partners. The role involves providing support during after-school hours, special events, and occasional weekends, creating a positive and engaging environment for youth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Planning & Delivery:
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for youth.
- Supervise and lead activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Implement grant-funded programs, track outcomes, and document progress.
- Youth Engagement & Support:
- Serve as a positive role model and provide daily guidance to participants.
- Foster a welcoming environment that promotes collaboration with volunteers and community organizations.
- Teamwork & Coordination:
- Collaborate with team members and community partners to deliver high-quality programs.
- Support special events, field trips, and other community initiatives.
- Collaborate with various units within LAWD, providing assistance to different programs as required. This may include helping with administrative tasks, facilitating workshops, or supporting events that align with LAWD’s overall mission.
- Support organization-wide initiatives, such as community events, outreach activities, and fundraising efforts, as part of a collaborative approach to achieving LAWD’s mission.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with special programs or events as assigned.
- Be available for evening and occasional weekend activities.
- Perform other duties to support the mission of the Latino Academy as needed.
Qualifications:
- A genuine passion for working with youth in diverse settings.
- A valid driver’s license and transportation are required.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Eligibility as a Caregiver as determined by the Department of Children and Families.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High school diploma, GED, or HSED (required).
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and data management tools, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of a background check is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to monitor youth activities visually and ensure a safe environment.
- Engage in physical activities, including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and policy manuals.
Work Location & Hours:
- This role is based at the Latino Academy of Workforce Development and various partner locations in Dane County. It requires a flexible schedule with availability during evenings and occasional weekends to support events and deadlines. The position is primarily in person and requires 20–30 hours per week.
