Title: Bilingual Doula

Position Summary:
The Doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and families throughout pregnancy, labor, and the immediate postpartum period. Their role is to empower clients, ensuring a positive and informed birth experience through continuous support and guidance. Doulas play a vital role in fostering a supportive and informed birth experience for families.

Position Requirements:
- Meet with clients during pregnancy to discuss birth preferences and expectations
- Provide emotional and informational support, including guidance on exercises and relaxation techniques
- Offer continuous physical and emotional support during labor
- Conduct home visits to educate on healthy pregnancy, preconception planning, childbirth, and risk reduction
- Assist clients in creating personalized birth plans, including preferences for the delivery environment, support persons, and pain management
- Advocate for clients to ensure medical providers respect their birth preferences
- Visit OB patients in labor during designated working hours (determined upon hire)
- Develop and implement a postpartum follow-up plan for 2 weeks, 6-8 weeks, and every three months for the first year
- Educate and support clients on feeding options during pregnancy and postpartum
- Identify and offer support for maternal depression as needed
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in data tracking and documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Provide pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum education
- Maintain accurate records and care plans
- Work with providers and community resources

Supervisory Responsibility:
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a clerical, office setting and within the community, including but not limited to hospitals. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Location and Travel:
This position is based in the Oklahoma City Metro area and requires some local travel, primarily within the Doula’s area of residence.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, and potentially weekends. Work hours and shifts may vary based on business needs. Employees must be available to be on-call as needed, including evenings, Saturdays, or Sundays.
Training & Professional Development Provided:
- Ongoing education to stay current with prenatal care, labor and birth support, and infant feeding guidelines.
- Birth and postpartum doula certification.
- Lactation consultant certification.
- All required training per Oklahoma State Department of Health regulations.
Minimum Required Job Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
Education: Associate’s degree in a health-related field or other relevant education.
Experience: Strong experience working in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of health and nutrition.
Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish is required. Proficient in Microsoft Word and possesses intermediate general computer skills.
Preferred Minimum Job Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or other relevant education.
Certification: Doula certification and Lactation consultancy certification preferred but not required for consideration.
Skills: Solid word processing and data entry skills
