Job Description: Location: Harrisburg, PA
Hours: 15-20 hours per week
Compensation: $15-18/hour depending on experience
Start Date: March 1st, 2025
Project Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Community-based Research Assistant to join our team in conducting a study with families: Building a Strong Identity and Coping Skills (BaSICS) program. This innovative research project aims to address youth mental health disparities by evaluating the impact of the BaSICS intervention. The Community-Based Research Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting various aspects of the study, including participant engagement, study protocol administration, and data collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and maintain human subject research training.
- Collaborate with the research team to ensure the smooth operation of the study, including attending team meetings and providing updates on research activities.
- Conduct in-person assessments with participants, including administering surveys, interviews, and collecting biological (saliva) samples as needed.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of research materials, including assessment tools, participant information sheets, and consent forms.
- Enter and manage data in research databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of participant information.
- Adhere to study protocols and ethical guidelines in all research activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the research supervisor.
Requirements
- Current, valid driver’s license
- Applicants must have a social security number and have or apply for and receive PA Child Abuse and FBI clearances
- Availability between 2:00pm-8:30pm
Qualifications
- Community Health Worker (preferred).
- Public health and community health experience required.
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a bachelor’s degree program in Psychology, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Previous experience in research, particularly in a clinical or community setting, is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with participants and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in research.
- Willingness to engage with study participants and their parents.
