Inventory Control Supervisor

Position Summary
As a key member of the Latitude 36 Foods Team, the Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for ensuring optimal inventory levels of materials and products in line with our inventory cycles and organizational philosophy. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this position serves as the primary control and audit function for both warehouse and production departments, ensuring adherence to established procedures and processes. Its primary responsibilities include daily inventory analysis to solve discrepancies, developing and implementing inventory control procedures to enhance operational efficiency, managing daily physical cycle and special counts, and training and leading the Inventory Team. The Inventory Control Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining our inventory system's integrity and supporting our operations' overall success.
Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. Degree, preferably in Business or equivalent experience and/or training in Inventory Control and supervision preferred.
- Highly organized and great attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Previous hands-on experience with computerized inventory control systems using ERP or MRP.
- Intermediate skill level in Excel, the ability to download reports from ERP or MRP systems.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains a cycle count program to ensure all locations are counted at least once per month and maintain an accuracy level of at least 99%.
- Provides periodic reporting of results and analysis of root causes of errors.
- Implements corrective actions as needed.
- Oversees the cycle counting team.
- Functions as gatekeeper and control of all inventory adjustments; insuring ensuring proper approval, recording, reporting and implementation of corrective actions as needed.
- Monitors temporary inventory location balances (“cc”, “dock”, etc.) used during the weekly cycle count. Ensures timely investigation of cycle count errors and disposition of these temporary location balances.
- Performs cycle counts at offsite locations and production facilities on an as needed basis and in the absence of the cycle counter.
- Oversees work performed by support personnel.
- Assesses slow-moving inventory and determines disposition of inventory items. Works with QC and warehouse management to produce DMR paperwork to relieve from inventory and physically dispose of materials. Sets up QC part numbers for inventory items determined to be reworked or disposed of. Prints and reviews Dumpster Sales Order and Negative PO reports on a weekly basis to ensure transactions are entered timely.
- Works with Purchasing and Production teams to develop action plans to reduce and eliminate excess and slow-moving inventory to minimize supply and dumping.
- Provides written documentation of any procedural issues causing inventory inaccuracies to management and meets with appropriate managers to determine & implement corrective action.
- Reviews and corrects negative quantity on hand report on a weekly basis adjusting negative quantities to actual quantities on hand.
- Monitors inventory levels, ensures accurate records, and prepares reports on inventory usage.
- Develops and implements inventory management procedures and ensures inventory supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
- Supervises the receiving and stocking of inventory items, and ensures all inventory is properly labeled and stored.
- Analyzes inventory data and recommends improvements.
- Develops and manages inventory budgets.
- Maintains a safe and secure inventory area.
- Responds to inquiries regarding inventory availability and location and corresponds with staff and vendors.
- Oversees the work performed by support personnel and may supervise the assembly of materials.
- Advises management on ways to save money through controlling costs.
- Stays abreast to the latest trends and makes recommendations when replacing some inventory is necessary.
- All other assignment, responsibilities and projects as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
- The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to use material handling equipment such as forklift or other lifting devices at able to work at heights.
- Stand for long periods of time and take frequent walks.
