\n- Assist attorneys with the preparation and filing of corporate litigation and bankruptcy documents, including pleadings, motions, petitions, and discovery requests/responses.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain case files, ensuring proper filing and document retrieval in compliance with firm and court requirements.
- Draft and proofread legal documents such as corporate governance materials, settlement agreements, and bankruptcy schedules.
- Conduct legal research and gather information related to corporate litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, and case law.
- Assist in the preparation of bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other filings with bankruptcy courts.
- File legal documents with federal, state, and local courts, ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
- Coordinate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel on scheduling depositions, hearings, and meetings.
- Prepare and organize evidence for hearings, trials, and depositions, including exhibits and witness lists.
- Track case progress and deadlines, and manage attorney calendars to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, update them on case developments, and respond to inquiries.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent legal assistant certification (e.g., NALA or CLA) preferred; bachelor’s degree in a related field a plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant in commercial, corporate litigation, and/or bankruptcy law.
- In-depth understanding of corporate litigation procedures, bankruptcy filings (Chapter 7, Chapter 11, etc.), and legal terminology.
- Proficient in preparing and reviewing legal documents, including complaints, motions, petitions, and settlement agreements.
- Experience with legal research and the use of Westlaw, LexisNexis, or other legal research tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments).
