This position allows for 1 day per week remote / work from home after training.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker with a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) certification to join our team. This position requires a professional who is passionate about supporting the mental, emotional, and social well-being of students in an educational setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and families, especially in school-based environments, and will be skilled in addressing a range of student needs, from individual counseling to group interventions. The School Social Worker will play an integral role in creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive school climate.
Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Support : Deliver individual and group counseling services to students addressing a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, trauma, bullying, and family difficulties.
- Crisis Intervention : Respond to students in crisis situations, providing immediate support and coordinating follow-up services as needed.
- Collaborate with Educators : Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for students. Provide recommendations and strategies for managing behavior and supporting academic success.
- Family Engagement : Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide resources, support, and strategies to improve student well-being and academic outcomes. May also assist in facilitating family meetings and providing referrals to outside services.
- Assessment and Case Management : Conduct assessments of students' social, emotional, and academic needs. Maintain case files and documentation in accordance with school and district policies.
- Develop and Facilitate Programs : Create and deliver prevention and educational programs that promote social-emotional learning (SEL), positive behavior, conflict resolution, and mental health awareness for students, parents, and staff.
- Advocate for Students : Act as an advocate for students, ensuring they receive the necessary supports and accommodations to succeed in the school environment. Collaborate with community organizations and service providers to connect students with additional resources.
- Support School Climate : Contribute to the development of a safe and inclusive school culture through conflict mediation, promoting a positive school climate, and encouraging respect for diversity.
