What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afterschool STEM Instructor + Tutor (FOREST HILLS, QUEENS) position at Launch Math & Science Centers?
Launch provides inspiring afterschool programs by merging innovative curriculum with an engaging learning experience to foster appreciation and generate excitement for STEM topics. Designed for kids ranging from toddlers to tweens, Launch’s unique programs spark each child’s intrinsic desire to learn.
The company is hiring part-time instructors to work with students individually, in small groups, and in afterschool classes.
For this role (primarily), Launch Instructors work at an elementary school in Forest Hills on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There are also opportunities to work in the learning center in Manhattan, in students' homes, virtually, or in one of our many partner schools leading project based enrichment classes focused on STEM and / or tutoring students in math. Examples of STEM classes include (but are not limited to) : Coding with Scratch , Freaky Forces Elusive Energies , Rockin' Robotics , and our "I Wanna Be..." series featuring Detective , Animator , and Marine Biologist ! Launch offers private or group math sessions focused on remediation, homework help, and test prep.
As a Launch Instructor you are expected to :
- Provide top quality instruction utilizing proven Launch methods, curriculum, and provided materials
- Enthusiastically engage students during instructional sessions
- Help students gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed
- Constantly assess and consider ways to improve classroom experience
- Maintain regular communications with the Launch Program Coordinators
