Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fabrication Supervisor to oversee daily weld shop operations in our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of skilled workers, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and maintaining high-quality production levels. This role requires strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of various manufacturing processes, including welding and metal fabrication, and the ability to manage 50 employees.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of shop personnel to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Monitor production processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on the proper use of equipment such as plasma cutting machines, press brake machines, and hand tools.
- Conduct regular inspections of work areas and equipment to ensure maintenance and safety protocols are followed.
- Utilize measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Collaborate with management to develop production schedules and allocate resources effectively.
- Ensure that all work is performed according to relevant codes and standards, including FCAW welding practices.
- Address any issues or conflicts within the team promptly and effectively.
- Experience welding on thick metals (mild/raw steel) with 2 years doing FCAW,
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints & weld symbols, has a strong mathematical skills
- Educational/trade school hands on learning or AAS degree in Welding Technology Certification is a plus, not required
Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in plasma cutting, press brake operation, welding techniques, and the use of hand tools.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with managing material, project and labor costs within a department.
- Strong understanding of basic math principles for measurements and calculations.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards related to manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
