What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Interior Designer position at Laura Hodges Studio?
We are seeking a self-motivated, creative, responsible and organized Junior Designer to work directly with the Senior Designer and Principal Designer.
Responsibilities include:
- Drafting plans, elevations and custom furniture drawings.
- Surveying and documenting existing conditions.
- Work with the senior designer and principal designer throughout all phases of the design planning and implementation from developing design schemes and preparing design presentations to fabrication, construction and installation.
- Knowledge of to-the-trade design showrooms, manufacturers and resources.
- Purchasing and coordination of furnishings, materials and fixtures for multiple projects.
- Scheduling and overseeing deliveries and installations.
- Working with the design team to coordinate project deliverables.
- Generating proposals, purchase orders and invoices.
- Maintain design library and pick up/return product samples.
- General administration related to design projects.
Qualifications include:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working with a professional design firm.
- Interior Design degree.
- Basic knowledge of construction details including millwork and design planning, historical furniture styles and architectural history.
- Proficiency in Sketch-Up and MS Office Suite. (Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.)
- Experience working with contractors on job sites, troubleshooting and solving issues.
- Experience with design management software and budget planning.
- Eagerness to learn and a passion for interior design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
