Laurel Ag & Water is looking for a self-motivated, exceptional Project Manager. As a key member of the Construction Team, the Project Manager will help lead all aspects of the construction project in our organization as construction management is instrumental to our continued success. Laurel is looking for a strong hands-on Project Manager with a proven track record in the scaling of a business growing rapidly. This role will report to the Director of Construction.
This person will be passionate about understanding our employees’ needs and creating solutions that maximize their performance at Laurel. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Streamline and Manage All Resources for Project Tasks for a Construction Project from Start to Finish
- Support Construction Resource Planner to plan and designate labor, equipment, and subcontractors based on project scope of work
- Monitor progress of installation, troubleshoot when necessary, and ensure construction quality meets Laurel Ag & Water and/or customer standards.
- Proactively manage assigned construction projects to prevent delays, work stoppages, materials shortages, etc.
- Work with warehouse staff to efficiently manage material deliveries, staging, Job Stall, requisitions and returns that are necessary for efficient construction.
- Provide oversight of on-site managers, leaders and supervisors to ensure staff works safely (including safely operating equipment) and maintains safe working conditions at all times.
- Working and/or operating with light machinery (example: loading or offloading pipe/material once a month or less) to avoid any delays, work stoppages and/or "troubleshooting" when necessary.
- Collaborate with customers and other departments
- Work with all stakeholders through change order process during construction.
- Keep stakeholders informed throughout the life of the project - Provide clear detail throughout the life of a project to explain the ongoing results (shed light on final costs, “As-Built” details, etc.)
- Provide consistent feedback to construction teams, sales, design and estimation with the goal of improving efficiencies and customer experience.
- Cost Conscience
- Be mindful of job costs and live within the labor and equipment budgets. Consistently make construction decisions with budget, timeline and implications to other stakeholders in mind.
- Strategically drive new revenue through upsell opportunities and drive lead to account managers for upcoming projects.
- Manage Utility Service Applications and Permits
- Coordinate Communications, Site Visits and Customer Interactions per Company Procedures
- Expedite Utility/Permit lifecycle through strategic communications through each stage
- Develop and Maintain a Utility Services Status/Permitting report
- Manage all County Permits
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Substantial understanding of business workflow from design, estimation, warehouse & construction
- Substantial understanding of the construction process and general sequence of tasks.
- Knowledge of CPM scheduling & planning
- Must be computer and ERP savvy. Competency work with digital tools and construction/project management
- 3-5 years’ experience with agriculture irrigation, construction scheduling, construction management and/or project controls or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Ag irrigation or construction management degree desired
- Proven ability to work in a team environment inside and outside of department
- Certification: forklift, excavator, CPR, welding, electrical, pump CMA, or PMI certification desired.
- Willingness to travel (20-40% depending on location)
