Laurel Business/Technical Institute offers Certificates, Diplomas, and Associate’s degrees and specializes in allied health, business and applied technology programs. The school is licensed by the state of PA, WV, SC approved by the Department of Education, and accredited by ACCSC. We are currently hiring for an FT Instructor in our Uniontown, PA campus.
Job Responsibilities:
- Instructing in the clinical, didactic, skills/simulation courses as assigned.
- Developing and updating course material including syllabi, course outlines, and evaluation instruments.
- Evaluating textbooks and other instructional materials for each course taught.
- Instructing classes assigned by the Practical Nursing Program Director per schedule.
- Providing students with course syllabi and outline on the first days of classes during the first week of the term.
- Grading tests, projects, and other assignments in a timely manner.
- Evaluating students’ progress on a regular basis throughout the term with grades accurately reflecting students’ skills.
- Completing progress reports at mid-term per provided dates.
- Maintaining daily attendance and course required components in Canvas LMS system. Actively engaging in retention activities according to school policy.
- Working with the Practical Nursing Program Director and/or Campus Director, when necessary, to resolve student concerns.
- Enforcing school attendance policy which includes tardy, as written.
- Performing mid-semester clinical evaluations as assigned each semester. Serving as a mentor to new and current students.
- Adhering to and support school policies and procedures as referenced in the Employee Handbook and School Catalog.
- Reporting off to the Practical Nursing Program Director prior to any absences and have a plan for affected classes.
- Providing annual documentation of continuing professional growth.
- Obtaining and maintaining any certifications, licenses, or degrees required to teach assigned courses.
- Performing end of the term procedures by preparing the assigned classroom(s) for the next term.
- Participating in Employer Program Advisory Committee meetings, if requested.
- Performing other duties as necessary or assigned.
Nursing instructors shall have the following:
(1) Be a graduate from approved school of professional nursing and licensed in the state of Pennsylvania.
(2) Attained a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Science of Nursing (BSN).
(3) Nursing experience involving direct patient care or teaching experience within 2 years of employment.
(4) Current registration as a professional nurse licensed in Pennsylvania and West Virginia in good standing.
(a) The qualifications of the nurse director or nurse coordinator shall be as follows:
(1) Graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
(2) Current registration as a professional nurse in this Commonwealth.
(3) The nurse director shall give evidence of ability to provide leadership and shall have a master’s degree.
