Salary: $6,000 - $8,000 for Summer Camp Season

Laurel Hill Summer Camp seeks an enthusiastic Theater Specialist to lead our performing arts program, Studio & Stage.
This role involves teaching theater arts to campers from Elementary through Middle School, encouraging creativity, expression, and teamwork
Position
As the Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for teaching engaging and age-appropriate coding classes to campers as part of our Technology & Innovation program.
You will guide students in exploring fundamental and intermediate programming concepts through fun, hands-on projects. Campers may work on games, animations, apps, or robotics programming depending on their age and experience.
You will also collaborate with other members of the STEM and Specialty Staff to integrate coding into interdisciplinary camp activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a coding curriculum tailored to different age groups and experience levels, covering basic to intermediate topics such as block coding (e.g., Scratch), introductory Python, HTML/CSS, or robotics programming.
- Lead structured coding workshops and creative tech challenges that build problem-solving, logic, and digital confidence.
- Inspire a collaborative, exploratory environment that fosters innovation, curiosity, and perseverance.
- Coordinate and support end-of-session showcases or mini hackathons where campers can present or demo their projects.
- Manage and maintain software, hardware, and online accounts used in instruction; ensure all tech is in safe working order.
- Collaborate with other staff to incorporate coding elements into broader camp themes and special events.
- Monitor camper progress, provide encouragement and support, and offer individualized feedback to help them grow.
Qualifications
- Experience in computer science education, coding instruction, or STEM programming for children.
- Familiarity with age-appropriate tools such as Scratch, Tynker, Python, micro:bit, robotics kits (e.g., LEGO Mindstorms, Ozobot), or similar platforms.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Passion for making technology accessible, engaging, and fun for young learners.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
