Job Type: Seasonal (Full Time) Summer
Salary: $6,000 - $8,000 for Summer Camp Season
Additional Compensation: Eligible for Bonuses & Tips
Location: East Setauket, Long Island NY
Laurel Hill Summer Camp seeks an energetic and enthusiastic STEM / Nature Specialist for our unique outdoor classroom.
This role combines education with nature, as our facility includes a variety of animals and a vegetable garden, providing a hands-on learning experience for Pre-School, Elementary, and Middle School campers.
Position
As the STEM / Nature Specialist, you will engage young minds with the wonders of science and nature in an outdoor setting that inspires curiosity and hands-on learning.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging STEM curriculum for various age groups in an outdoor classroom setting.
- Submit weekly age-appropriate lesson plans reflecting the camp themes,
- Utilize the outdoor environment, including live animals and garden, to teach scientific concepts in a practical context.
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- Collaborate with other camp staff to integrate STEM activities with broader camp programs.
- Foster a fun, educational, and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and learning.
Qualifications
- Passion for teaching and working with children in various age groups.
- Educational background in Science, Nature, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Previous experience in teaching or educational activities, preferably in a camp, outdoor or unconventional setting.
- Ability to manage groups with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
