Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads of agencies.

Faculty members are required to provide a positive, caring, and dynamic learning environment that inspires student success, values diversity, promotes community vitality and embraces Laurel Ridge Community College’s vision and values. Faculty members are required to work to help further the goals of Laurel Ridge Community College and the Early Childhood Education and Education programs, and support Virginia Community College System policies and procedures. Responsibilities of this position will include serving on college committees (as assigned), evaluating and revising the curriculum, participating in monthly information sessions, and assisting with program assessment and development. Faculty members are to engage in activities that demonstrate a commitment to students, community organizations, and/or the College.
Faculty will seek out opportunities for increasing response rates on student surveys. Faculty will analyze student ratings of instruction and other student feedback, identify trends needing improvement, and implement an action plan to accomplish that improvement. Faculty will respond constructively to student comments and questions and require the same nature of response from students. Faculty will respond promptly to student emails, phone calls, or other communications (within 2 business days).
Faculty will publish office hours throughout the semester (and delineate virtual versus in-person).
Teaching schedule may include day, evening, weekend, and on and off-campus, distance learning, and web delivery. Though the assigned campus is Fauquier, the successful candidate should be flexible to teach at the Middletown campus if needed.
This position may assist with our Future Educators Academy which could include additional duties such as advising, recruiting, attendance at extracurricular activities such as field trips, and administrative and leadership support for the Academy during times when the academy is in session at the Fauquier campus, this faculty member will need the flexibility to be on-site at the Fauquier campus.
Faculty members will be required to use state-of-the-art classroom teaching technologies. Faculty will engage in activities that keep them current in their field. Faculty will engage in activities that keep them current in pedagogy and curriculum and will participate in personal growth, wellness and/or self-care activities.
Credentialed to teach both Early Childhood Education and Education, with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a related field and also a Master’s degree in Education or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a related field. Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of two years of full-time (or full-time equivalent) teaching in an early learning environment. Current Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) teaching license. Excellent written communication skills. Excellent verbal communication skills.
Current VDOE teaching license that is PreK-3 or PreK-6. Minimum of two years of full-time (or equivalent) experience as a Director or Assistant Director of a child care center.
