QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; Preferred five (5) years experience in educational leadership or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


REPORTS TO:

 

Assistant Superintendent, Academic Services


JOB GOAL:

 

Directs and coordinates special education, early childhood, health services, and other student services programs.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


1.   Coordinates and directs special education staff to maximize student achievement.

2.   Ensures District compliance with federal and state requirements for special education programming.

3.   Oversees developmental preschool programs.

4.   Manages Child Find efforts for the District.

5.   Performs duties of the AIMS-A Test Coordinator.

6.   Oversees as the District’s Section 504 Coordinator.

7.   Manages the District’s school counseling program for special education and general education students.

8.   Oversees home-bound/hospital-bound programming for eligible students.

9.   Prepares and manages budgets for special education, early childhood, and other student programs.

10. Provides or arranges for professional development as determined by the needs of students and staff.

11. Maintains working relationships with other community agencies in support of district students.

12. Participate in community, school, and district meetings and organizations as appropriate or assigned.

13. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

1.   Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.

3.   Ability to work with a variety of people and maintain confidentiality of information.


TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:


1.   To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of appropriate District approved internet   

      software, Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate transportation technology software).
2.   Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.
3.   Monitor special system(s) including, but not limited to, radio and security systems.

      driving, sitting, walking, and standing.
5.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:


1.   Twelve-month, employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
2.   FLSA: Exempt.
3.   Full Time Employee Benefits: employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.


EVALUATION:


1.   Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy on evaluation of support personnel.
