Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and adoption
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information
- Prepare legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and affidavits
- Transcribe dictations and prepare correspondence
- Maintain case files and organize documents for court filings
- Schedule client meetings and court appearances
- Interview clients to gather necessary information for case preparation
- Assist with trial preparation and attend court hearings as needed
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in legal case management system
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of family law principles and procedures
- Proficient in legal research using Lexis-Nexis or similar databases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with transcription and data entry
- Familiarity with legal case management software is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
This position requires a paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in the legal field. Experience in family law is highly preferred.
