Our boutique Divorce / Family Law Firm is currently seeking an accomplished Mid-Level Litigation Associate Attorney with a minimum 35 years of litigation experience to join our dynamic firm. Reporting directly to the Managing Attorney, you will independently manage your own caseload while also supporting senior attorneys on more complex matters. In this role, you will represent the firm with professionalism and integrity both in and out of court, acting as a trusted advisor to our clients and an ambassador in the legal community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Billable Hours
- Maintain a minimum of 1700 billable hours per year, of which 50 may be pro bono or billed at a significantly reduced rate.
- Handle a broad range of family law cases, including both litigation and transactional matters.
- Prepare and file legal pleadings, motions, and other critical documents.
- Respond to all client phone calls and emails within the timeframe outlined in our Engagement Letter.
- Direct junior associates to assist with client correspondence when appropriate.
- Oversee discovery requests, responses, and all related deadlines to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Contribute at least 9 hours per month to firm marketing initiatives.
- Exemplify unwavering professionalism, ethical standards, and commitment to client service.
- Continuing Legal Education (CLE) : Attend CLEs to refine litigation strategies and advocacy skills.
- Bar Association Involvement : Participate in local Bar Association meetings to stay connected with the legal community.
- Thought Leadership : Pursue publishing opportunities in relevant legal journals or platforms.
- Conferences : Attend professional conferences to network and expand industry knowledge.
- Business Development : Cultivate new client relationships to meet quarterly targets :
- Year 4 : At least 4 new clients per quarter
- Year 5 : At least 7 new clients per quarter
- 35 years of litigation experience (family law experience strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated excellence in research, writing, and oral advocacy
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to meeting deadlines
