Project Manager Job Description

Lawns of Dallas is a premiere full-service landscape company in the Dallas Metroplex. Locally owned for over 40 years, we are a full-service landscape design, build and maintenance company. While directing 3-5 production teams, this position oversees the crew members for multiple projects at a time, including the installation of landscape plants/trees, outdoor kitchens, artificial turf, hardscape items, pergolas, water features, landscape lighting, etc. Suitable candidates will have a self-starter mentality, with the willingness to work with their teams to get jobs completed on time and on budget. He/she will strive to meet the highest quality standards and represent the company to the highest degree. This position works closely with members of their crew, our Sales Team, and the Construction Team.

The Project Manager will report to the Director of Construction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Completing all assigned projects as scheduled with the assistance of the production team
  • Providing all Crew Teams with the items and communications necessary to be successful with their projects
  • Listing the tools, equipment, and materials needed, as well as outlining a detailed description of the task with clear expectations of the time frame
  • Handling and ordering up to 95% of all materials needed for projects
  • Training assigned employees in proper installation techniques according to the LOD Standards
  • Providing clear and prompt communication of any changes to standard operations and/or procedures, as they arise, to ensure that the team is following all approved practices
  • Operating and understanding all tools and machinery used by our production team. Possibly operating non-CDL automatic and stick-shift vehicles, including vans, dump trucks, and truck/trailer combinations
  • Supervising crew members to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures outlined within the Employee Handbook, while communicating any necessary information regarding the team to the VPO and other members of management
  • Completing all necessary paperwork and tasks in Asset and clocking in and out of jobs to maintain accurate job hours
  • Working closely with the Construction Team and clients. Communicating with clients, such as answering questions and assuring client satisfaction. Documenting any complaints or issues in Asset and relaying all communications
  • Creating and hitting production goals set, while maintaining a very high level of job quality
  • Establishing a maintenance program for all equipment (ex: oil changes, replacement fuel filters, cleaning of carburetors, sharpening blades, cleaning machines, etc.) and communicating with the Mechanic accordingly
  • Attending Weekly Construction meetings and giving updates to the management team on current projects
  • Providing supervision and training to employees, as necessary.
  • Completing any other duties, as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and professional environment
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in exterior (landscape/hardscape) construction required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership or management position
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with specialized equipment (ie skid steer) preferred
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ambition and willingness to take initiative
  • Highly organized and able to follow processes
  • Valid Drivers License required
