At Lawrence & Associates, Attorneys are managers. As a result, and attorney should always conduct him- or her-self in a way that sets an example for other employees to follow, in every aspect of an attorney’s job. Perhaps the most important designation in Lawrence & Associates is “Responsible Attorney” for a given matter, which signifies that you have taken control of a client’s legal issue and bear a duty to see it completed successfully to the greatest extent of your abilities.

· Proofreading, Review, and Editing. For anything originally drafted by the attorney, the firm expects the attorney to proofread the work, including checks for proper spelling, grammar, and formatting. Similarly, the attorney will often assign drafting tasks to law clerks, paralegals or administrative staff. The responsible attorney must proofread, review, and/or edit the work produced by other staff members to the extent required so that no staff member practices law without a license, and so that Lawrence & Associates’ work always maintains a high standard of professionalism.

· Prepare for, and attend, hearings and depositions. While it may be axiomatic to say that attorneys will sometimes be required to go to hearings or attend depositions, it is also incumbent upon attorneys to fully and completely prepare for hearings and depositions. The attorney’s highest level of skill should be brought to bear on each hearing or deposition, regardless of the case size or type.

· Personal Injury: Understand, summarize, and utilize medical records. While attorneys are rarely responsible for requesting medical records, attorneys are expected to read and know how to summarize medical records.
