Student Education and Communications Assistant Berkeley Lab is hiring a
Student Education and Communications Assistant
to join the Government and Community Relations (GCR) Office and K-12 Programs Team. This role supports STEM events for K-12 students and creates engaging content for K-12 education media. Responsibilities include writing copy, editing, developing content, and managing the K-12 website and social media. The position also involves supporting outreach events and workshops for high school students. The role reports to the Director of K-12 Programs, with part-time training in spring (20 hours per week), transitioning to full-time in summer. The position is expected to last at least one year, with potential for extension.
Apply now, read the job details by scrolling down Double check you have the necessary skills before sending an application.What You Will Do : Create and distribute monthly newslettersMonitor new subscribers and analyze social media dataDevelop and schedule engaging social media contentSupport onsite events and online webinars / career talksAssist with offsite educational visits as neededWhat is Required : Full-time undergraduate student in good academic standingExperience and / or passion for science / STEM education and outreach to K-12 studentsCompleted coursework in STEM fieldsStrong writing, editing, and public speaking skillsProficient in office software (e.g., Canva, MS Word, Excel, Google apps)Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality workSkilled in social media communicationAble to work both independently and in teamsCapable of multitasking in a dynamic environmentNotes : This is a part-time (transitioning to full-time in summer), 1 year student assistant appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.The hourly range for this position is $18.67 - $24.39. The final hourly rate is dependent on years of education completed. Applicants should note that they are responsible for covering their own housing and travel expenses.This position may be subject to a background check.This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule - a combination of teleworking and performing work on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA. Work schedules are dependent on business needs. This position will need to be on site at least 1 day per week in the spring and fall and up to 4 days per week during the summer.
