The Title I Reading Teacher will be responsible for improving the Reading skills of underperforming students in grades 1-2 and supporting the goal of high Reading achievement for all students.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze standardized test data to identify student needs in Reading.
- Based on identified needs, plan Reading/ELA lessons that address identified student needs and support classroom instruction.
- Provide small-group instruction using lessons that address identified student needs and support classroom instruction.
- May be asked to assist /co-teach Reading with classroom and/or other teachers.
- Assist Head of School with inventory, scheduling, and distribution of Reading testing.
- Meet with classroom and/or Reading teachers to plan for and discuss students.
- Attend Response to Intervention meetings for relevant grade levels.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Reading or like area preferred
- Reading certification required, SEI endorsed or become SEI endorsed by the end of the first year
- 3 years’ experience preferred
- Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students
- Proven ability to communicate well with adults and children
- Demonstrated ability to work as a positive team member
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS
- Experience developing programs to serve the needs of students with underperforming Reading skills
- Experience developing programs for urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred
Schedule: Full-Time, School-Year Position
