Position Summary:
The Budget Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of Lawrence Public Schools by monitoring expenditures, preparing financial reports, and forecasting budget needs. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position ensures the efficient and effective use of funds and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Budget Analyst will collaborate with department administrators across the district to support strategic financial planning and operational excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Oversee business affairs in accordance with city, state, and federal laws, as well as School Committee policies.
• Maintain a comprehensive accounting system to record and track all financial transactions.
• Manage the collection, disbursement, and accurate accounting of all school funds.
• Prepare the district's annual budget under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer.
• Develop and implement procedures for budget request collection and review.
• Monitor budget activity and prepare monthly and annual financial reports for leadership.
• Supervise inventory and property control systems to ensure appropriate management of district assets.
• Prepare billing schedules and reports for state, federal, and private funding sources.
• Advise on personnel decisions related to business department staff.
• Attend School Committee meetings and provide financial insights as needed.
• Provide timely and accurate financial reports to the Chief Financial Officer and other stakeholders.
• Make recommendations for improvements to business office operations and services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of school finance, accounting procedures, and business operations.
• Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and budget monitoring tools.
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial forecasts and reports.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead, supervise, and collaborate with staff and administrators.
• Understanding of public procurement practices and inventory control.
• Commitment to fiscal integrity and equity in resource allocation.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of experience in business management, preferably in a school district.
• Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in district-wide financial planning and budget monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal funding requirements.
• Proficiency in English; bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Pay Range
• 78,000-85,000
