- Early Childhood Special Education Teachers - Current Kansas certified teachers with early childhood special education certification needed to provide a developmentally appropriate early childhood instruction/experience for preschool-age Teachers also need to provide home activities to extend the learning opportunities for children and their families.
- Three classroom positions at Kennedy; 3.5 hours a day, Monday-Thursday 7:30-11:00
- 1 community position; hours and dates TBD; approx. 18-20 hours thru summer
- 1 evaluation team position housed at Kennedy: 3-14 days over summer, starting early June.
- Special Education Teachers - (Elementary, Middle School, Secondary, & Transition): Must have certification in one or more of the following areas: Adaptive, Functional, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Intellectual Disability, or Multiple Disabilities. Positions available for Autism, Adaptive, Functional, Transition & ED classrooms. Provide daily planning, direct instruction, and paraeducator supervision for students who qualify for ESY, working on the individual goals and benchmarks of the student’s IEPs. 5 hours per day; Monday-Thursday 7:30 am-Noon
- SPED Vocational / Work Experience Educator - (High School & Transition): Must be certified in one area of special education, vocational, or transition. Dates and times TBD; 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Provide daily supervision of job coaches and oversee vocational programs of individual students. Prep day: 4 hours.
- Part-Time On-Call Special Education Teachers – Kansas licensed special education teachers are needed to be on-call to substitute at ESY school sites.
- High School Secondary Therapeutic Classroom – Time and Dates TBD
ESY Related Service Providers: (District-wide) Hours determined by need and caseloads
- Autism / Behavior Consultants – To support district staff and the students they serve by providing program development, instruction, and interventions for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and behavior challenges.
- Braillist - Transfer curricular documents into a braille format. Experience required in working with braille software, such as Duxbury, and in creating tactile graphics, braille charts, and graphs. Hours to be determined (approximately 20 hours a week thru summer). Location TBD.
- Deaf Education Consult – Current certification in special education or related field to deaf and hard of hearing instruction. This person will provide consultation to special education teachers who have students with hearing impairments in their classrooms. It is expected that this job will be for approximately 10 hours over the summer.
- Nurse Positions – Two registered nurses (licensed by the state of Kansas) to provide nursing services primarily for special education; may be on-call for other summer programs. The two positions can be filled by multiple part-time nurses as well. School nurse experience preferred. Job responsibilities include supervision of medication administration/procedures and first aid for preschoolers through high school. Hours: 4.5 hours a day; Monday - Thursday.
- Occupational Therapist - (Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School & Secondary): Work with students who require occupational therapy as outlined in their IEPs. Must be a licensed occupational therapist by the state of Kansas. Anticipated requirements are 10-15 hours per week based on student needs. (COTA may apply at their current hourly rate).
- Physical Therapist - (Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School & Secondary): Work with students who require physical therapy as outlined in their IEPs. Must be a licensed physical therapist by the state of Kansas. Hours approximately 3-7 hours per week.
- Social Worker / Therapist for Specialized ED Classrooms: Prior experience working with USD 497 ED Specialized classrooms preferred. Staff will provide individual and group emotional support, along with helping families access resources. Hours: 4.5 hours per day; 4 days per week
- Speech-Language Pathologists - (Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School & Secondary) Must be licensed as an SLP by the state of Kansas. Work with students both individually and in small groups within a classroom and/or clinical setting according to speech/language goals as written in the individual students’ IEPs. Several positions are available for various hours. School-based hours: 4.5 hours per day; 4 days per week. Part-time is optional.
- Vision Teacher: Licensed special education teacher with an endorsement for vision impairments. To provide direct instruction, and/or consultation, to support students with vision impairments. Hours TBD based upon student needs.
- Early Childhood Screening and Evaluation Team Members: One each: School psychologist, ECSE teacher, occupational therapist, and speech pathologist with current licenses in their respective field to participate in ECSE screening and evaluation for 8 - 15 days this summer depending upon referrals.
