Overview:This role is responsible for overseeing the safe design of quality equipment delivered on time and on budget for significant and complex client projects. The Director of Engineering will develop design and product standards and deliver custom-engineered integrated systems to meet both end-user and engineering client demands.
This position is highly focused on technical analysis, design, and departmental guidance, fostering a culture of lean through shared learning, transparency, and continuous improvement. The Director of Engineering will also play a key role in coaching, training, and developing the engineering team from a technical standpoint. Additionally, this role requires documenting processes, solving challenging issues, and capturing lessons learned to enhance future operations.
Responsibilities:- Build and lead a responsive engineering team to support internal and external customers from order receipt to final commissioning.
- Foster a whole-team culture of excellence through shared learning, transparency, and success recognition.
- Develop and implement equipment, component, and design standards based on customer expectations and industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement of current equipment, including water heaters, heat recovery, and wastewater treatment solutions.
- Construct and execute the companys technology roadmap.
- Provide technical and operational support for field inquiries.
- Develop efficient business systems and processes to optimize equipment delivery while minimizing waste, utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Promote a culture of lean principles through training and tools such as PDCA, value stream mapping, kaizen, standard work, problem-solving, and 5S.
- Manage and oversee engineering team activities, monitoring performance, and providing feedback.
- Recruit, develop, and train engineering staff to enhance team capabilities and organizational success.
- Maintain positive employee and interdepartmental relations.
- Bachelors degree in engineering or science.
- 10 years of experience leading engineering teams.
- Mastery of heat transfer, combustion, and wastewater treatment principles.
- Working knowledge of process equipment instrumentation and controls.
- Minimum of 10 years in progressive engineering roles, with at least 3 years in an engineered-to-order environment.
- At least 5 years of experience leading a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Masters degree in engineering or science.
- Six Sigma and Lean experience.
- Project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or other relevant certifications.
- Knowledge of ASME, AWS, UL, NSF, NEC, NFPA, IEC standards.
- Travel required as necessary, including potential international travel.
Salary : $151,000 - $166,000
