Position overview:
As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will review invoices for accuracy and match them with purchase orders. You will resolve discrepancies through communication with our Operations and Purchasing teams. You will support the Accounting, Operations, and Purchasing teams by preparing reports, handling cyclical procedures, and participating in month end routines. You will also process check requests and payment cycles. This position requires attention to detail, critical thinking, organization skills, and an understanding of accounting principles specific to the construction industry.
Key responsibilities:
· Match invoices with purchase orders, work orders, and subcontracts
· Review invoices and resolve any discrepancies through effective communication with internal team members, vendors, and subcontractors
· Assign job cost and GL codes to invoices to accurately account for costs
· Prepare and process payments, including checks and electronic transfers
· Maintain comprehensive records of all accounts payable transactions including posting transactions to journals, ledgers, and other financial records
· Reconcile the Accounts Payable ledger to ensure all invoices and payments are accounted for and properly posted
· Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
· Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant tax regulations
· Obtain monthly conditional and unconditional waivers/releases from vendors and subcontractors
Qualifications and experience:
· At least one year of accounting experience or education
· Solid understanding of financial accounting principles and procedures
· Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software
· Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Experience in construction accounting is a plus, but not required
Job Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
Salary: Based on experience. The pay range is $23-27 per hour. This position is non-exempt.
Work Location: In person at our Sacramento, CA office.
