The Service Foreman maintains commercial service customers' HVAC and refrigeration systems to meet Federal and State codes and requirements. This position will supervise service technicians in performing service maintenance contracts, Special project repairs, and equipment installation and replacement projects. The successful candidate will have knowledge of material orders, assign work, monitor performance, and conduct direct supervision of HVAC personnel, as well as troubleshoot HVAC and Refrigeration equipment.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
General Duties:
- Coordinate planning and schedules with CSR daily. Supervise the work of Service Technicians in maintaining and repairing HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems and equipment; conducts regular inspections of work in progress and on completion.
- The foreman will take every 2nd call and warranty request.
- Provides technical assistance in the design, installation, and maintenance of customer’s mechanical systems and equipment.
- Recruits and trains Service Technicians in the safe operation of equipment and tools.
- Monitors the performance of Commercial Customer HVAC and Refrigeration equipment to ensure it is performing to ventilation codes and energy efficiency standards.
- Ensures use of PPE and the application of safe behavior, including vehicle safety, by all Service Technicians.
- Be able to monitor the manpower requirements and initiate action to accommodate fluctuating business needs
- Responds to emergency situations involving HVAC equipment, plumbing, and refrigeration.
- Oversee the Service Technicians troubleshooting and repairs for heating, cooling, refrigeration and ventilation equipment while using best practices to achieve minimal ‘down time’ for equipment.
- Ensures Service Customer HVAC and Refrigeration equipment, shop areas, and service vehicles are maintained properly.
- Provide assistance for ordering parts, tools, and supplies from various vendors when required. Prepares estimates/cost sheets for projects and assists with budget planning. Makes recommendations on whether malfunctioning equipment should be repaired or replaced.
- Actively participates in inventory control and safety
- Provide for responses to after-hours and emergency service calls when the primary technician is unavailable.
- Ensure all their quoted work is performed at or under allotted time.
- Complete and present Service Technicians Union evaluations and submit to the office.
- Communicates with Management staff on the status of maintenance, repairs, and installations. Keeps Management aware of unusual or costly situations and unhappy customers.
- Coordinates with Dispatch in assigning work orders to HVAC and Refrigeration technicians on a daily basis; provides technical assistance and answers questions; provides input to performance evaluation. Offer information and training to staff concerning the operation and status of HVAC and Refrigeration systems.
- Assist sales and quote department with technical information required.
- Works along with Sales team on estimating new maintenances and quoted jobs. Provides feedback and technical knowledge to meet customers’ needs.
- Participates in financial meetings with Management and provides feedback on the Service Team gross profits and work orders performance.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager
REQUIRED ABILITY/SKILL:
- Must have the ability to lead, direct, motivate, inspire, and encourage work in a positive manner and provide input for performance evaluations.
- Standard practices of the HVAC and refrigeration trade.
- Applicable building codes, ordinances and regulations of State and local authorities pertaining to HVAC, refrigeration and boilers.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of Service Technicians
- Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, drawings, and blueprints of machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to estimate labor and material costs and to assist the sales team and service quoting team.
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with Management, subordinates, vendors and office personnel.
- Must be able to be on call, perform after-hours and weekend work when necessary

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· High school diploma or GED Certificate
· 5 years of related experience including supervisory or lead experience and considerable experience in the operation, maintenance, and installation of air conditioning, refrigeration, and related systems or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
