Litigation Paralegal
Lax, Vaughan, Fortson, Rowe & Threet, P.A. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Litigation Paralegal to join our team. At least three years of litigation paralegal experience is preferred. Experience working in a law office is required.
Essential Job Duties:
- Draft legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses.
- Meet with clients and others to gather case facts and prepare responses to discovery requests.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing case files and documents.
- Manage case timelines and ensure that all deadlines are calendared and met.
- File documents with courts and maintain accurate records of all filings.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, clerks, and court staff as appropriate.
- Organize and maintain case files, including organizing and indexing documents produced by clients and parties during the course of litigation.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree; or high school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of on-the-job legal experience in a law firm setting required.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of legal terminology; ability to interpret legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, motions, orders, or forms; excellent writing and proofreading skills; ability to handle electronic communications; ability to work independently or in a team environment; ability to work with various software programs such as Microsoft Office products, Juris time and billing software, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience interacting with local, state, and federal court clerks and on-line filing systems.
