Job Summary:
The On-Call Banquet Set-Up Associate is responsible for assisting in the setup and breakdown of banquet events. This position requires flexibility, as associates will be called in based on event schedules. Responsibilities include preparing banquet halls, meeting rooms, and event spaces according to client specifications, ensuring all furniture, equipment, and decorations are arranged appropriately and functioning properly.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in event setup, banquet services, or the hospitality industry is desirable but not required.
- Skills:
- Basic knowledge of event setup and furniture arrangement.
- Ability to work efficiently and follow instructions precisely.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Flexibility and willingness to work on an on-call basis, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Punctuality and reliability when scheduled or called in for shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Setup:
- Assist in the preparation and arrangement of event spaces according to the specifications provided by event coordinators or clients.
- Set up tables, chairs, linens, and any other event furniture or decor as instructed.
- Ensure correct placement of audio-visual equipment, lighting, staging, or any other technical setup required for events.
- Set up beverage stations, buffet tables, and food service areas as requested.
- Ensure that all guest-facing items (table settings, decorations, etc.) are arranged according to the event's theme or client’s preferences.
- Event Breakdown:
- After events, assist in quickly and efficiently breaking down and clearing the banquet or meeting space.
- Disassemble tables, chairs, and decorations, and store them appropriately for future use.
- Clean up any materials or equipment used during the event, and reset the space as needed.
- Ensure that any event-specific items (such as linens, catering equipment, and décor) are handled with care and stored properly.
- Equipment and Material Handling:
- Safely transport furniture, equipment, and supplies to and from event spaces.
- Ensure all items used for the setup are in good condition and report any damage or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Work with heavy equipment or items, including lifting tables, chairs, and other event-related materials.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with banquet captains, event coordinators, and catering staff to ensure event setup requirements are met.
- Communicate effectively with the team to ensure efficient setup and teardown.
- Follow any last-minute instructions or changes to the event setup as needed.
- Safety & Cleanliness:
- Ensure all setups are safe, and all event spaces meet safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after setup and breakdown.
- Follow all safety protocols when handling heavy items, using equipment, and during event tear-down.
- Additional Duties:
- Assist with any other tasks related to the event, such as helping with décor placement or serving guests if required.
- Be available to work on short notice, depending on the event schedule.
- Report any inventory issues, such as missing or damaged supplies, to the supervisor.
