Job Summary:
The Low Voltage/Fiber Installer is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low voltage systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, CCTV, access control, security systems, and other telecommunications infrastructure. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in commercial, industrial, and residential environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Termination:
- Install, terminate, and test low voltage cables, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cables (single-mode & multi-mode).
- Perform fiber optic fusion splicing and connector terminations.
- Install, mount, and secure network racks, patch panels, jacks, and enclosures.
- System Integration & Testing:
- Test and certify fiber and copper cabling systems using industry-standard testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, Fluke testers).
- Ensure proper labeling, organization, and documentation of all installed cables.
- Troubleshoot and repair connectivity issues and faulty terminations.
- Equipment & Device Installation:
- Install and configure network switches, routers, access points, and surveillance cameras.
- Set up and test access control systems, intercoms, and alarm systems.
- Work with various manufacturers' equipment and components per project specifications.
- Site Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, including BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA, and local codes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Team Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Provide updates on job progress, potential issues, and solutions.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members to ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on experience in low voltage/fiber optic installation.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of structured cabling, fiber optic installation, and termination methods.
- Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):
- BICSI Installer or Technician Certification
- OSHA 10/30 Safety Certification
- Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification
- Manufacturer Certifications (e.g., Panduit, Corning, Leviton)
- Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and on lifts as needed.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential projects.
- Knowledge of NEC, EIA/TIA standards, and BICSI best practices.
- Experience with network infrastructure and troubleshooting.

Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour
