Position Description:
The production supervisor will report directly to the Director of Operations, and is responsible for overseeing and directing all production activities within a manufacturing facility, ensuring that production targets are met, workflows are streamlined, and quality standards are maintained by managing a team of production employees, assigning tasks, monitoring productivity, and addressing any issues that arise during the manufacturing process while upholding safety regulations and maintaining equipment functionality.
Given the nature of today’s business environment, the Production Supervisor will have to manage a talented and diverse team. One of their most important goals is to properly organize and direct the production staff to achieve a satisfactory workflow. They must also identify areas for improvement and organize training opportunities for their team.
- Manage the fabrication, machining, assembly, coating outsourcing, packaging equipment, shipping, and maintenance processes.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and regulating employees in the production of equipment and maintenance of machinery and facility.
- Implements manufacturing strategies and actions to accomplish plant production goals and concentrate on fact-based problem-solving.
- The manager must have good social connections within the plant community to ensure that employees’ complaints/and or issues are addressed promptly.
- Must be able to utilize manpower, facilities, equipment, and materials to ensure there are minimal manufacturing errors. This also includes attaining production schedules while maintaining quality product standards.Must be able to stand for long periods, and have good mobility to access all areas of production
- Responsible for training, selecting, and motivating employees to achieve production goals while maintaining manpower within each department
- Coordinates and enforces plant policies, procedures and safety initiatives
Experience:
- Interpersonal Skills: Must have the ability to effectively communicate with employees, other department managers, and senior management.
- Leadership Skills: Must be able to motivate employees to keep operations running smoothly.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Must be able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying defects in production.
- Time Management: Understand production deadlines, and shipping dates, and manage time accordingly.
- Mechanical Skills: Must have the ability/comprehension of general mechanics.
- Experience w/multiple means of metal working equipment.
- Able to operate various transport equipment
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing or business-related field OR a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in lieu of degree
- US Citizenship of C1 Permanent Resident Alien status
