As an Associate on the Shareholder Advisory and Activism Defense Team, you will work in small teams advising public companies on a broad range of topics including shareholder activism and takeover defense, matters regarding public equity markets and understanding investing patterns of institutional investors. You will work closely with sector banking teams in reviewing and evaluating corporate strategy, M&A dynamics and corporate financial policies, all through a shareholder lens.

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $185,000 - $250,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard Financial Advisory’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.

As an Associate on the Shareholder Advisory and Activism Defense Team, you will work in small teams advising public companies on a broad range of topics including shareholder activism and takeover defense, matters regarding public equity markets and understanding investing patterns of institutional investors. You will work closely with sector banking teams in reviewing and evaluating corporate strategy, M&A dynamics and corporate financial policies, all through a shareholder lens.
We’ll trust you to:
- Advise public companies on shareholder activism defense strategies and tactics
- Lead shareholder analysis in support of strategic M&A and shareholder activism
- Develop content for client meetings, substantiate advice with data and analytics, and lead client presentations
- Analyze trends in shareholder activism, public equity ownership, and drivers of market performance
- Manage analysts, supervise projects, and help guide career development
- 1-2 years of Associate experience in Investment banking, law firm, public relations, investor relations, preferably focused on shareholder activism and/or equity markets and public company shareholders
- Outstanding quantitative, analytical and qualitative skills including database analytics experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills
- A desire to work in an intellectually demanding, fast paced, and creative environment,
- Desire to manage, train, and mentor junior team members
- Excellent technical skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, Factset, ActivistMonitor, AI tools) and ability to quickly learn new databases and applications
- A strong academic record
