What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator I - Standman position at LB Foster?
As a Standman, you are responsible for performing various duties including staging and loading couplings, assisting Thread Machine operator, and performing specific jobs based off customer requirements. Must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are also essential.
Responsibilities
1. Understand plant safety and quality policies
2. Review and understand daily production schedule
3. Assist in any plant are yard activities as needed
4. Perform daily tool and workstation inspections
5. Check and adjust racks as required to accommodate material being produced
6. Assist Thread Machine operator perform changeovers and machine setup
7. Stage couplings, protectors, and pipe dope in accordance with production schedule
8. Load couplings onto index rack
9. Roll pipe and perform thread inspection
10. Notify Thread Machine operator of any inspection findings and assist in repairs per specification
11. De-burr pipe after threading
12. Apply thread lubricants per customer order requirements/specification
13. Apply thread protector and/or coupling
14. Tighten coupling and check coupling make-up is within specification
15. Roll pipe to bundling workstation
16. Assist with plant and yard activities as needed and requested.
Education, Experience and Skills
• High school diploma are equivalent
• Previous experience operating machinery in a production environment, preferred
• 1 year experience working in a manufacturing production environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to properly operate machinery
• Ability to perform daily and preoperational maintenance
• Must be able to work with hands for pushing, pulling, and rolling pipe when needed
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow daily production schedules
• Ability to operate hand tools
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
