What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Assistant position at LBL?
Berkeley Lab's Engineering Division is hiring a part-time Student Assistant (8-16 hours / week) to support the Advanced Light Source upgrade project (ALS-U). The position offers hands-on experience under the supervision of the ALS-U engineering group, contributing to the ongoing effort to enhance the ALS, a leading facility in x-ray, infrared, and extreme ultraviolet light research. What You Will Do :
The role will vary based on your skills and interests. Those focused on technical documentation, QA, and manufacturing will work on process development and quality assurance. Students interested in CAD and design will focus on 3D modeling, large assemblies, and engineering drawings. Training in LBNL-specific engineering tools will be provided.
Key responsibilities include :
- 3D modeling and design using Creo Parametric CAD
- Converting 3D models to 2D engineering drawings
- Assisting with assembly and as-built documentation
- Developing QA documents (Work Instructions, Test Plans)
- Extracting images from models for procedural illustrations
- Supporting project documentation and engineering work for the ALS-U project.
