Duties:
- Provide peer support services to individuals with behavioral health challenges
- Utilize your personal experience to inspire hope and promote recovery
- Assist individuals in setting and achieving their personal goals
- Conduct individual sessions to address mental health concerns
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement care plans
- Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the healthcare system
- Offer crisis intervention and support during times of distress
- Mentor individuals in developing coping skills and healthy behaviors
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower individuals in their recovery journey
- Assist with crisis management and de-escalation when necessary
Experience:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles and practices
- Experience in mental health counseling or social work is preferred
- Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques
- Understanding of addiction counseling and recovery principles
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with clients
- Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach
