POSITION SUMMARY:
The Primary Support Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the teaching staff and the administrative deans in our International Baccalaureate (IB) PK-5 Division. This full-time role will be responsible for supporting teachers in their day-to-day operations, supporting the dean of academics with teacher coaching, and supporting the dean of students with behavior, student support, and data collection.
The individual in this role should be knowledgeable in best teaching practices and must have strong skills in collaboration and communication. The individual in this role must be organized, proactive, and have a strong ability to take initiative, recognizing potential problems before they arise.
This is a secondment role of a 3-year term with a possible extension.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teacher Support and Operations:
- Check in with teachers each morning to assess daily needs, support with attendance, and identify any potential problems to solve.
- Assist teachers with daily operations, providing logistical and instructional support as needed.
- Assist with the carrying out of daily operations (recess and loop duty schedules, etc...)
- Student Support:
- Assist the Dean of Students in ensuring student support plans are implemented.
- Follow up with teachers, students, and parents to track progress and ensure effective internal and external support are in place.
- Monitor and track student progress through teacher check-ins and observations.
- Communicate with parents to follow up on parent tasks (ie. outside support, educational evaluations)
- Act as a liaison between teachers and parents, ensuring that important information and updates are communicated clearly and promptly for students with Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.
- Student Behavior
- Address student behavior that requires a tier 2 or 3 intervention.
- Document student behavior
- Implement and document tier 2 or 3 interventions
- Communicate with parents/faculty/deans situations in accordance with our internal procedures.
- Coordinate and assist teachers and/or the DoS in addressing parent inquiries and concerns regarding their child’s behavior, academic progress, or other school-related matters.
- Educational Support and Coaching:
- Compile quantitative data and prepare quarterly reports on efficacy of student support services for Dean Team review.
- Coach teachers on best teaching practices and the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Substitute Teacher Recruitment and Staffing:
- Lead the recruitment, training, and staffing of substitute teachers to ensure classroom coverage and continuity of instruction.
- Maintain a list of qualified substitute teachers
- Manage the scheduling and communication of substitutes
- Professional Development:
Attend and participate in relevant staff meetings and training sessions to stay current on best practices in education and classroom management.
- Be available to support with parent night(s) and parent conference days.
- Be available to observe students on admissions testing days.
- Other duties as needed.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a classroom setting working with students in PK-5 grade levels supporting diverse learning needs required.
- Experience in behavioral intervention including restorative practice required.
- Coaching/mentor teaching experience
Experience in recruiting, training, and managing teachers is preferred

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
- Understanding of childhood development
- Knowledge of IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is highly desirable.

- Strong knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies and Tier 1 intervention programs.
Experience working with behavior management strategies and conflict resolution in an elementary school setting.
